DescriptionThis project was a speculation home designed by Casey Snell, AIA (working for Zachary Engineering) and built by M.D. Construction during the summer of 2004.
The goal for this house was to create a masterpiece second home, capturing the mountain feel and the vacationing family experience, with minimal construction costs.
We created a team consisting of the owner, contractor, architect and engineer before we started the design. The team decided on a budget and worked backwards into the design. With all the players at the table we could make immediate decisions and keep the project on track and within the budget. This approach, coupled with having all the players involved from day one, produced an incredible second home within 5% of the initial budget.
